First Meeting Success / Rustic Inn Closing - Mike @ 15:42 EDT

We had a great first meeting the other night at the Rustic Inn. We probably had 30-40 people, which was a great turnout for a hot September evening.

I wanted to take a second and let everyone know that the Rustic Inn is closing for good on Sept. 28th.

All of us past and presently involved with the South Warren Snowmobile Club would like to thank the Picioccio family for all they have done over the years for the sport of snowmobiling in our area. You have always been there for us; whether it was as the gracious hosts for our meetings; with a hot meal for our groomer drivers or with a charitable donation for our events. Your establishment will most certainly be missed, but the real void will be the loss of us all being a part of the “Rustic Family”, which was much more than just the food and spirits offered in your fine establishment.

Good luck and God bless.

Please try to stop in before the 28th and express your thanks to Nick in person if you can.

Our next meeting will be at the 1/2 Mile Ranch on Thursday, October the 2nd, 7:30 PM.

It's that time again!!! - Mike @ 01:30 EDT

As the season draws closer, it's time to start renewing your memberships for the 08-09 season. Go to this link and follow the instructions:

https://membership.nyssnowassoc.org/club/show/940

You will need your NYSSA membership card from last year for your id #. If you can't find it, you can e-mail Mark @ markmcl@roadrunner.com and he will help you out.

Our map ads have pretty much stopped coming in. That really surprises me because of the great year we had last year. I also had quite a few potential new advetisers that promised that they were going to get on board this year that we have not heard from.

With fuel prices where they are, we are going to need every dollar we can get, so please help us out with a map ad and/or membership.

Thanks,
Mike

Warren County Stands Firmly Behind Snowmobiling - Mike @ 21:32 EDT

Many thanks to our Town & County leaders that support us tremendously.

QUEENSBURY -- The Warren County Board of Supervisors on Friday passed a resolution requesting that the state return $1 million, which was cut from the state budget, to the Snowmobile Trail and Maintenance Fund.

The money from the statewide fund came from snowmobile registration fees. The $1 million was dissolved into the state’s general fund by the Legislature.

Several municipalities in Warren County rely on the tourists that the sport brings in during winter months.

"It’s really important," said Fred Monroe, chairman of the Board of Supervisors. "In so many Adirondack communities, it’s really the only economy they have," he said.

The Inter-county Legislative Committee of the Adirondacks also passed a similar resolution. The resolution was requested by the state Snowmobile Association, which had requested resolutions from the counties and the inter-county committee, Monroe said.
